What is a DSG Automatic Gearbox?
Although they feel almost exactly like standard automatic gearboxes, direct shift gearboxes use a pair of clutches, rather than a single unit. They still rely on the familiar lever or paddle behind the steering wheel, just like any automatic transmission. Most DSG automatic gearboxes can allow you to put your car into Sports Mode to improve acceleration or Manual Mode for a standard driving experience.
The main advantage of DSG automatic gearboxes is that they allow you to change gear extremely quickly. This is much faster than either traditional manuals or a standard automatic gearbox.
